The net profit for the year amounted to €73 million, which is a decrease of 9.1% compared with 2015. As stated in the press release of 4 January 2017, sales in 2016 amounted to €2,813 million, an increase of 5.4%. Discounting the effect of acquisitions and week 53 in 2015, organic growth was 2.3%.
CEO Koen Slippens: "The theme of 2016 was ‘Building the future’. As is often the case when you are building something, you have to make investments before you can reap the benefits. As previously stated, profit for 2016 was below the record year of 2015, which had 53 weeks, which means that we did not perform as well as we had expected at the beginning of the year.
The combination of strong organic growth and some excellent acquisitions meant that Foodservice sales rose sharply and again outperformed the market. We were unable to keep pace with market growth in Food Retail, however, where our market share declined to 2.6%. During the year, we narrowed the gap between us and market growth, thanks in part to the conversion of outlets to the EMTÉ 3.0 format and we now have 15 of these stores."

The 2016 Annual report will be published on 3 February 2017. In our trading update of 20 April 2017, we will address the developments in the first quarter of 2017 in more detail. The half-year figures will be published on 20 July 2017.

Sligro Food Group N.V., Veghel (NL) and Alimax NV, Bavikhove (B), announce that they expect to reach agreement on the acquisition by Sligro Food Group of all the shares of Exquisite Food NV and its subsidiaries ISPC International NV, ISPC Ghent NV, Exquisite Seafood NV and Océan Marée NV, together known as ISPC.
ISPC is a leading Belgian hospitality wholesaler with combined cash-and-carry and delivery service outlets in Ghent and Liège. ISPC also has a fresh fish wholesale business in Brussels. In 2016, ISPC generated sales of €86million with 250 employees. ISPC has an extremely broad product rage, with a particular emphasis on fresh produce. ISPC operates primarily in the higher-end hospitality sector with a spin-off to the healthcare sector. Sligro Food Group expects the acquisition to contribute to earnings per share from 2018.

Sligro Food Group N.V.’s sales in 2016 amounted to € 2,813 million, an increase of 5.4% compared with sales in 2015 of € 2,670 million.
Total Foodservice sales growth was 8.6% (Q4: 3.8%). The organic growth was 3.3% (Q4: 2.8%).
Total Food Retail sales declined by 1.7% (Q4: negative 5.0%). EMTÉ’s like-for-like consumer sales declined by 1.6% (Q4: negative 0.1%).

Sligro Food Group N.V., based in Veghel, and NMDAA Holding B.V., based in Apeldoorn, have announced that they expect to reach agreement on Sligro Food Group Nederland B.V.’s acquisition of all the shares in Tintelingen B.V.
Tintelingen specialises in ‘select-your-own’ Christmas gifts and supplies businesses with actual or digital gifts to mark special occasions. Employees can receive a fully personalised gift card, which they can use to place an order in a personalised online shop. Tintelingen surprises the recipients with optimum gift concepts, giving the employer total peace of mind.
Sligro is one of the largest Christmas hamper suppliers in the Netherlands. It mainly supplies traditional Christmas hampers, and works with partners on a limited scale, via online select-your-own gifts. The acquisition of Tintelingen will give Sligro Food Group a leading position in both market segments.

Vacancy and career marketplace Glassdoor has presented the annual Top 20 Best Rated Employers in the Netherlands. Sligro Food Group finished in 3rd place there.
It is the second time in a short period of time that Sligro Food Group has scored high in a national survey of good employment practices.

On Wednesday, November 30th, the ZiN Inspiratielab of Sligro was officially opened by Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium.The ZiN Inspiratielab, a foodlab for foodprofessionals, is situated on the first floor of the Sligro Cash & Carry in Veghel.
The Belgian royal couple's was 28, 29 and 30 November for an official state visite in the Netherlands. As part of that state visit Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium came to Sligro Food Group in Veghel, to perform the official opening of the ZiN Inspiratielab. CEO Koen Slippens was very pleased with the royal visit. "We see the interest of Queen Mathilde as a great compliment and it gives us further energy to develop Sligro in Belgium”. In the category 'small caps' Sligro Food Group has won the 'FD Henri Sijthoff Prize'. This is the annual price of the Financieele Dagblad for companies with the best financial reporting.
Sligro Food Group CFO Rob van der Sluijs received the award on October 25 from the jury at the Grand hotel in Amsterdam.
In the category AEX Randstad Holding received the award. In its verdict, the jury considering the Annual Report 2015, including the interim reports and financial information on the website along.
For the 63rd time Het Financieele Dagblad reached the FD Henri Sijthoff Prize to institutions that stand in their financial reporting.

Sligro Food Group N.V.'s sales for the first three quarters (39 weeks) of 2016 were €2,067 million, an increase of 6.9% (Q3: 8.1%) compared with the figure of €1,933 million in
2015. Excluding the effect of acquisitions, sales were up by 2.1% (Q3: 3.1%).
Foodservice sales were up by 10.5% (Q3: 12.2%). Excluding the effect of acquisitions, sales showed a 3.5% increase (Q3: 5.2%). Food Retail sales were down 0.5% (Q3: down 0.8%). Like-for-like consumer sales at EMTÉ supermarkets were down by 2.1% (Q3: down 1.8%).
