Half-year figures 2016: net profit €28 million

Sales in the first half of 2016 amounted to €1,355 million, an increase of 6.3% on the corresponding period in 2015. On a like-for-like basis, sales growth was 1.6%. Net profit for the first six months was €28 million, down 3.4% compared with the corresponding period in 2015.

Koen Slippens, CEO: "As expected, growth in both our markets is improving gradually. In the foodservice market, there is still a major discrepancy in sales growth between the various market segments. In both business units, we saw an improvement in sales growth in the second quarter.

EMTÉ best for cheese in the Netherlands

For the third time in a row, the annual survey commissioned by Westland Cheese from market research agency GfK rated EMTÉ as the supermarket group with the best cheese department in the Netherlands. 

EMTÉ won this award previously in 2011, 2014 and 2015 and proving its ability to deliver consistently high quality.

The GfK’s survey of 10,000 customers shows how they perceived the cheese departments of 'their' supermarkets, inviting them to give marks for cheese quality, staff friendliness and expertise, waiting times, special offers and prices, product range, department layout, product availability and cleanliness.

EMTÉ achieved the highest score on quality, product range and special offers and prices.

Trading Update first quarter 2016

Sligro Food Group N.V. posted sales of €633 million in the first quarter of 2016 (13 weeks), an increase of €28 million, or 4.5% compared with the figure of €605 million in Q1 2015. Excluding the effect of acquisitions, sales were up by 1.5%.

Food Retail sales were down 0.8% in the first quarter. Like-for-like consumer sales at EMTÉ supermarkets in the first quarter were down by 3.0%. The results of our pilot stores trialling the new EMTÉ 3.0 format are promising. Foodservice sales were up by 7.3% in the first quarter. Excluding the effect of acquisitions, sales showed a 2.7% increase.

Sligro Food Group acquires JAVA Foodservice of Belgium 

Sligro Food Group N.V., Veghel (NL), and Bejaco N.V., Rotselaar (B), announce that Sligro Food Group has acquired the entire share capital of Bejaco N.V. and its subsidiaries JAVA BVBA and Freshtrans BVBA, jointly known as JAVA Foodservice. 

JAVA Foodservice is a top-three player in the Belgian foodservice market, focusing specifically on the institutional and company catering market segments and several hotel chains. Sligro Food Group’s ambition is that JAVA Foodservice will grow further in its existing markets in Belgium over the next few years under the JAVA Foodservice name.
